One of the most popular platforms for social media marketing initiatives, the micro-blogging service Twitter, is rumoured to be working on a new expandable timeline feature, according to an article published by CNET.

The feature has been seen by a number of users on their timelines – with Pinglio’s Patrick Bisch being the first to report it.

Twitter’s expandable timeline, rather than displaying content and media related to a tweet at the right of the screen, displays all information within the timeline.

In the article, CNET explain: “Hovering over a tweet produces an “Open” link that allows users to open a tweet to see who retweeted the message, as well as view the entire threaded conversation.

“Opening a tweet with media such as a TwitPic image or YouTube video will expand on the window in the timeline to view the media,” the explanation finished.

It is not yet know whether the feature will see a roll-out in the near future – as Twitter are yet to release any comment regarding the change.
