Building on the huge amount of success that it has recently experienced, Twitter has moved to acquire a start-up company known as Julpan, according to Search Engine Watch.
With the purchase, Twitter has more importantly acquired the services of an engineering team of 12, featuring Ori Allon – formerly an engineer at Google.
Allon – who has been given an official role as Director of Engineering – has played an extremely important role in Google’s search rankings technology, having developed and sold the search engine giant his “Orion” algorithm in 2006.
Speaking on the Julpan website, Allon said: “Twitter gives us a chance to make an even greater contribution towards instantly bringing people close to what is most meaningful to them.”
The current outputs of Julpan’s pre-Twitter purchase endeavors will be discontinued as separate products, instead being integrated directly into the micro-blogging service.
Currently a popular platform for social media marketing, Twitter with the acquisition has pointed towards an SEO move – one that will see them develop their own sorting system.
