New reports have found that the UK’s most frequent online activity come from visiting social media platforms.
Taking over the entertainment category for the first time ever, social media sites came out on-top for the UK in January.
Robin Goad, Experian Hitwise’s research director who releases the figures and conducted the research, explained: ‘While social networks of course compete amongst themselves for users, many of those users have a presence on multiple networks.
‘One in every eight people leaving a social network visits another one immediately after, something that is encouraged by the connections that exist between the networks.’
According to the figures 12.4 per cent of visits to the internet by the UK in January were spent on social media sites either for pleasure or for social media marketing, which is fast becoming the new way to spend your advertising budgets.
