In addition to their current Facebook marketing efforts, Mountain Dew Energy is reportedly considering launching a Facebook store, according to a report featured on marketingweek.co.uk.
The drinks company has already begun to focus more on the marketing opportunities offered via digital channels; it’s been speculated that a potential Facebook store could be used as way to give existing fans early access to limited edition drinks before store release.
Senior brand manager, Simon Cheape, said that the launch of a Facebook store wouldn’t be immediate, but ‘it’s on the cards.’
Cementing Mountain Dew’s commitment to digital, he added: “We’re staying away from above-the-line channels permanently, as digital is far more targeted and precisely where our audience is.”
Owned by PepsiCo, the brand has a strong presence on the Facebook and only returned to the UK last year after a petition – drawing the support of 10,000 people.
However, Cheape made it clear that Mountain Dew would be looking to branch out with its digital presence, towards YouTube and other social networks over the next year.
