Popular for listing classified ads, Gumtree is set to launch a new daily deals service, using a Facebook marketing initiative to gauge from customers what type offers they want to see, according to a report published by Marketing Week.
Moving into an area that is already saturated – with the likes of Groupon, Amazon and eBay all well established – Gumtree will employ the use of its Facebook page for customer opinion.
The Daily Deals are currently available in a select number of areas, including Manchester and Brighton, though the website’s community will soon be able to vote on other regions they would like to see included in the service.
Head of marketing for Gumtree, Hamish Stone spoke positively of the move.
He said: “Consumers are becoming increasingly savvy to the offers that area available, both on the high street and online, so it is vital to offer a unique and different platform in this competitive space.”
