Dove and French Connection become latest to sell via Facebook

By George Chapple

Dart in the centre of a target labelled 'social marketing'

Dove and French Connection have become the latest brands to take Facebook Marketing to a new level by using the social networking site to sell products via the medium, it has been reported by marketingweek.co.uk.

Fashion outlets ASOS and Young British Designers launched their own similar services last month and now others look to follow suit.

French Connection have unveiled plans to launch a store that will allow follower’s of the clothing store’s fan page to buy directly from its news feed.

It is thought that the site will launch at the end of the month.

Meanwhile Dove’s Facebook store will mirror that of Max Factor, allowing users to search for products and add to a shopping basket before checking out via Amazon.

Marshall Manson, EMEA MD of digital at Unilever, owner of the Dove brand, said: “It makes sense to allow users to move directly from a social word-of-mouth recommendation, or from information a brand has shared, to purchase.”
