With Blu-ray sales in America on the up, Digital Entertainment Group has announced the launch of a new social media marketing campaign aimed at keeping sales of the disc format high in the run up to Christmas, according to an article published by Variety.

The campaign will see in excess of 100 pages on Facebook launching sweepstakes in which users can compete to win a Blu-ray prize package every week.

“Win big with Blu-ray” has received a major boost with the participation of all the major Hollywood movie studios, as well as some smaller independent distributors.

Executive director for Digital Entertainment Group, Amy Jo Smith, speaking about the campaign, said: “The top 20 Hollywood film pages alone of Facebook have more than 250 million collective ‘likes,’ so, by teaming up with more than 100 similar partners, we knew this could be one of the largest sweepstakes ever conducted on Facebook.

“Consumers are spending nearly eight hours per month on Facebook now. There’s no better way to tout the benefits of Blu-ray to engaged and receptive consumers across the country,” she finished.
