Having previously used the platform to launch it latest perfume, UK fashion house Burberry has been announced as the country’s most popular brand on Facebook, according to an article published by New Media Age.
Research conducted by Socialbakers showed that Burberry has 8.6 million fans on Facebook, with Skittles sitting in second place – with an impressive 2.8 million fans.
Burberry – who used a Facebook marketing campaign to launch Burberry Body just last month – also gained the highest volume of fans in actual number – gaining 4.7 million since January.
In percentage terms, Volkswagen saw most significant growth – growing by 1883 per cent between January and September.
CEO and co-founder of Scoialbakers, Jan Rezab commented on the results.
He said: “The UK is the fifth largest country globally for Facebook users and has one of the highest percentages in Facebook penetration per person at 48 per cent.”
“Socially savvy brands like Burberry and Skittles are tapping into the huge potential of social platforms to create a dialogue with the consumer,” Rezab finished.
