Ad spend on Facebook increases for 2011′s third quarter

A hugely popular choice of platform for social media marketing campaigns, Facebook has seen the amount spent on adverts displayed on the site increase by 25 per cent for the third quarter of 2011, according to an article published by The Drum.

Citing research released by Efficient Frontier – in a report entitled “The Global Digital Marketing Performance Report” – the article reveals that search spend is also up – by 16 per cent year-on-year.

The report displayed that investment in Sponsored Stories – utilised to increase potential fan reach – and Facebook ads – in order to acquire new fans – were responsible for contributing to the overall growth.

Efficient Frontier’s global marketing director, Jonathan Beeston commented on the results featured in the report.

He said: “Ad spend is growing and as a result, costs are increasing, but despite that Facebook still offers great value to brands. Used well, Facebook advertising integrates to search and social engagement to give a combined result that is better than the sum of its parts.”
